A golden age in Russian art:

Alexandre Benois and The World of Art

A large exhibition around the group called The World of Art (Mir iskusstva) which made Russian art flourish around 1900, is in focus of the museum's activities also including concerts, lectures and nonstop screenings of Russian ballet films.

This exhibition follows upon the museum's previous explorations in Russian art, starting in 1993 with Léon Bakst – The triumph of sensualism and Theatre in Revolution – the Russian avantgarde on stage 1913–30, followed by The Art of Extravagance – costumes from Diaghilev's Ballets Russes in 1996 and Nijinsky-legend and modernist in 2000 (created together with Musée d'Orsay in Paris).
